Meet Our Team
Melinda M. Hochgesang, DMD
Dr. Mindy grew up in a rural area just south of Milan, IL. She attended Indiana University at Bloomington, where she earned All-American honors in cross country, and also received her bachelors degree in biology with a minor in chemistry. She also received a certificate from the Liberal Arts and Management Program in the Kelly School of Business at Indiana University. In her second year of college, Dr. Mindy decided that dentistry interested her and she decided to apply to dental school. She earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from South Illinois School of Dental Medicine in Alton, IL.
Dr. Mindy has a passion for helping those in need, and served on a dental mission trip to Jamaica to provide treatment to low-income patients. She is a member of the American Dental Association, the Iowa Dental Association, the Scott County Dental Society, the Davenport District Dental Society, and the Illowa Study Club. She is a certified Invisalign® provider, and is proficient at removing teeth, performing root canals, and treating lip and tongue-ties.
After seeing the effects of lip and tongue-ties firsthand – her older daughter had a lip tie and her younger daughter had both a lip and a tongue-tie – Dr. Mindy became involved in diagnosing and treating lip and tongue-ties. After taking several courses and observing other doctors, Dr. Mindy performed the lip and tongue-tie revision on her younger daughter herself. She has presented to chiropractors, dental assistants, speech and language pathologists, and lactation consultants in an effort to spread awareness and help babies, children, and adults affected by lip and tongue-ties.
When Dr. Mindy has time for herself, she loves to run and has completed five marathons. She and her husband, David, have two beautiful daughters – Hannah, 3 years old, and Natalie, 1 year old. They also have a black lab named Hoosier. Her brother, Craig Peterson, is also a dentist and practices at Cornerstone Family Dentistry alongside his sister.
Dr. Mindy can’t wait to see your smile!
Craig Peterson, DMD
Dr. Craig A. Peterson grew up in Milan, IL just outside the Quad Cities. As a child and into high school, Craig enjoyed sports, particularly baseball, and has always loved the St. Louis Cardinals. Beginning in high school, he excelled in science and then went on to major in Biology at Augustana College in Rock Island, IL. Craig graduated Salutatorian from Rockridge High School in 2005 and Suma Cum Laude from Augustana College in 2009. He then attended the Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine. It was during this time that he met Lauren, a campus ministry intern. They were married in 2011. After graduating dental school in 2012, the Petersons moved to Racine, WI where Craig worked as a dentist at a community health center. He had the opportunity there to serve low-income families and provide a wide variety of dental procedures.
In October of 2014, Craig and Lauren welcomed their first child, Eliana Rae Peterson. Ellie is both energetic and pensive, a perfect mix of both her parents. She has been such a blessing and is truly the apple of her daddy’s eye. Alongside quality time with his two favorite girls, Craig enjoys running, hunting, and cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals, Denver Broncos, and Indiana Hoosiers. Craig and Lauren are active in their church community and have enjoyed their time leading college and teen ministries. Lauren has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Drury University and a master’s degree in social work from Loyola University Chicago.
Craig, Lauren, and Eliana are thrilled to live now in the Quad Cities area, and Craig is excited to be working alongside his sister, Dr. Melinda Hochgesang. He is proficient in and enjoys all aspects of dentistry. He looks forward to serving the community and meeting you!
